If you’re a movie buff who lives in Chicago, then you’ve undoubtedly heard of the Music Box Theatre, one of the Windy City’s most beloved art house theaters, where they not only show great new independent films, but also cult classics like midnight shows of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE LOST BOYS, PREDATOR, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, and tons more including of course, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. They also show great classics for weekend matinees like GREASE sing-alongs, and John Wayne greats like RIO BRAVO and THE SEARCHERS. They even showed the new BLADE RUNNER: FINAL CUT for a week.
For the last three Octobers, the theater has also hosted a 24-hour horror movie marathon called "The Music Box Massacre," this year having kick ass writer/director Fred Dekker (NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, MONSTER SQUAD) in the house to talk shop on his criminally underrated career.
Anywho, I’ll cut to the chase. On January 12, the Music Box will be having a midnight show of HELLRAISER, and Clive Barker will be live in person to chit chat about the film and any other things fans would like to bring up. I’m sure he’ll also have a table set up for autographs and such. So if you’re a big HELLRAISER fan or dig Barker’s incredibly imaginative work, be sure to save the date!
