Texas Fear Fest the West Memphis Three

topper1

I just got some info in about the Texas fear Fest. Once again this year, there will be some fund raising going on for the West Memphis Three. Texas Fear Fest is a huge convention and festival held down in Texas..of course..and produced by Pit of Horror. com and Dread Central. com. So with that said, check this out…

We’ll be at Texas Fear Fest 2 (see info below) running an information booth and a silent auction to benefit the West Memphis Three (www.wm3.org). We’re looking for items for the silent auction, and I wondered if you would consider donating something for the auction? We’re doing a ton of press about this collaboration and are happy to help promote anyone who donates or gets involved. See below for info about this event. We could use items such as memorabilia, props, DVDs, clothes or toys with a horror theme, jewelry, clothing, and signed movies/books/posters/scripts, etc. Anything that fans of horror would enjoy bidding on… If you’re attending, come by and say hi. If you have something that isn’t quite the fit for Fear Fest 2, we can use it for Skeleton Key Auctions (www.skeletonkeyauctions.com), which also raises money for the West Memphis Three’s legal defense fund.

December 28, 2007: Dallas, TX – March 7th, 8th, and 9th. Texas Fear Fest (www.txfearfest.com) will be helping to raise money and awareness for the West Memphis Three (www.wm3.org) — three men who have been falsely imprisoned for murder since 1993. Recently completed DNA testing (not available back in 1993) does not match any of the three men, and their many supporters hope to see them freed in the near future. Tammy Adin (coordinator for the West Memphis Three World Awareness Day) and Anje Vela (president of Music4Life) will be teaming up with John Gray of Texas Fear Fest to bring donated items from Skeleton Key Auctions (www. skeletonkeyauctions. com) and other sources for a huge silent auction of memorabilia, artwork and many other items, to raise money for the West Memphis Three’s legal defense fund.

About The West Memphis Three:

Shortly after three eight-year-old boys were found mutilated and murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas, local newspapers stated the killers had been caught. The police assured the public that the three teenagers in custody were definitely responsible for these horrible crimes. Evidence?

The same police officers coerced an error-filled “confession” from Jessie Misskelley Jr. , who is mentally handicapped. They subjected him to 12 hours of questioning without counsel or parental consent, audiotaping only two fragments totaling 46 minutes. Jessie recanted it that evening, but it was too late — Misskelley, Jason Baldwin and Damien Echols were all arrested on June 3, 1993, and convicted of murder in early 1994.

Although there was no physical evidence, murder weapon, motive, or connection to the victims, the prosecution pathetically resorted to presenting black hair and clothing, heavy metal t-shirts, and Stephen King novels as proof that the boys were sacrificed in a satanic cult ritual. Unfathomably, Echols was sentenced to death, Baldwin received life without parole, and Misskelley got life plus 40.

For over 14 years, The West Memphis Three have been imprisoned for crimes they didn’t commit. Echols waits in solitary confinement for the lethal injection our tax dollars will pay for. They were all condemned by their poverty, incompetent defense, satanic panic and a rush to judgment.

But there’s still hope for them, and you can help.
