It’s during the week and you are snuggling on your couch getting ready to watch TV, what show would you pick?

I watch LOST. I absolutely love it. It’s really the only show I’ve loved since “Twin Peaks.” I don’t get good reception on my TV, so I don’t tune in to many TV shows. But I started with the DVDs, and now I watch it online.

What’s your favorite horror movie? Why?

Gosh, there are so many! It’s so hard to narrow down. One of my favorites is “Videodrome” by David Cronenberg. He is my favorite director of all time, and I love what he does. It is difficult enough to choose a favorite movie of his, but I would have to go with “Videodrome. ” I think his films feel like nightmares. A nightmare doesn’t really have monsters, or vampires, werewolves. A nightmare is when a hole suddenly opens up in your stomach, and you pull a gun out of it. And the gun becomes part of your hand. Another favorite of mine is “Deep Red” by Dario Argento. I love how intricate the plot is. And last, but not least, I would have to say “The Ring. ” The little girl is creepy, and if there’s one thing I like to see in a horror movie, it’s a malevolent child! I like the original, but Sadako was an adult.

Right now are there any projects that you are working on that involves you being bloody and screaming?

I’ve been working on a film that’s almost done called “Tales Of The Dead” (https://imdb. com/title/tt1192626/) from Haunted Autumn Productions (https://hauntedautumn. com/). It’s a collection of short stories in the style of “Creepshow. ” I play Laurie in the “Reckoning Of The Werewolf” segment, and Nancy in the “Walpurgisnacht” segment. The film was a lot of fun to work on, and it should be available soon.

I also did a horror short called “Retina,” (https://www. freewebs. com/retinafilm/) which will be appearing on the upcoming DVD anthology, “The Horror Vault” (https://imdb. com/title/tt0369424/). I play Shelly, a blind woman who miraculously gets her vision back. There is lots of blood and icky stuff with eyes! It’s by JP Wenner, who is also directing the feature film, “The Spooner Sisters. ” That’s almost done. We just have a little more to film in May. I play one of the title characters Jacklyn Spooner. I always love working with JP, and I got to do a scene with Troma’s own Lloyd Kaufman who told me I was a great actress! "13 Hours In A Warehouse” (https://imdb. com/title/tt1065060/) should be coming to DVD soon. I play a kick ass ghost who is haunting the warehouse. My death scene in that was pretty intense, and the makeup was something else. The ghosts got treated like queens while we were on set. Because we wore all-over body paint, we got to stay in the nice, air conditioned room while we weren’t filming, because it wasn’t good for our makeup to be in the heat. We had people to get us food, so we wouldn’t smear our makeup. Everybody stared at us everywhere we went, but nobody was allowed to take our picture! It was hilarious! I’m writing a short myself, which I intend to act in, and I’m going to play playing the female lead in Nikki Kruex’s feature film. But I don’t want to say too much about those two projects just yet…

If someone asks you what your deepest fear was, what would it be?

The idea of not being able to breathe. My friend told me that she was having sleep apnea, and showed a bunch of us the apparatus she was using to breathe at night. I had to leave the room. The idea that you would just stop breathing while you sleep was just too much for me.

What is the worst role you have ever found yourself in?

I once did this movie, and the filmmakers didn’t have anything planned out. No shot lists, no storyboards, nothing. This wouldn’t be a problem, if they had everything in their heads. But no! They didn’t even know where we were going to shoot. They drove us around all night looking for locations. We were standing outside, and this one dude went to take a piss under a tree. He came back screaming, “Look what I found!” and he flung this huge stack of porno mags across the hood of the car. Apparently, someone needed a place to put their stash, and they just left it under this tree! He was all, “I’m keepin’ these!” but it turned out they were all magazines featuring 50+ ladies. So he was disappointed. And that was about as productive as that film shoot got.

There is a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, who would you listen to?

Which ever one is telling me to keep giving my best at everything I do, and not worrying what anyone else thinks… at least not too much.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I am definitely a night owl. Even if I have a really early call in the morning, I can’t seem to make myself go to bed before midnight! I’ve been that way for as long as I can remember.

What’s your favorite fast food snack?

I will admit that I love McDonald’s hash browns. But when I really want a treat, I go out for sushi. I love just about any kind of sushi, and I also enjoy gyoza and tuna tataki. I recently tried quayle eggs, and now I have to eat them every time I go for sushi.

What scares you; I mean what really makes you squirm?

You’re going to think this is ridiculous, but saliva. The only scene in Clockwork Orange I find difficult to watch is the scene where the dude spits in Alex’s face. I had to drool a lot in “13 Hours In A Warehouse. ” I had to wear this huge bit in my mouth that was strapped around my head. Crist Ballas, the FX makeup artist, showed me two different sizes I could choose from. I picked the bigger one, because I thought it looked cooler. It was comfortable on my jaw, but what I didn’t notice at the time was that I couldn’t swallow. I was drooling the whole time! We’d be doing a take, and Dav Kaufman, the director, would hold the scene, and then yell “cut!” and say, “Adam [Olson, the cinematographer], did you get the drool?” It was so gross!

If you could choose to remake any horror film out there what would it be?

I am somewhat opposed to remakes on principle, but I would like to be in a remake of Battle Royale. It isn’t exactly a horror movie, but it is my favorite film of all time. I love the characters, and I know I could do it justice, if I got the right cast. Don’t think I’d want to write or direct that one, though.

Tell us a little about the female run independent production company Silent-But-Deadly-Productions.

I met Brooke Lemke when we were extras on a feature film shooting in Minneapolis. She had seen me in The Monster Of Phantom Lake (https://imdb. com/title/tt0801344/) and had just auditioned for the female lead in the sequel. She didn’t get cast, but the director decided to write another movie called Cave Women On Mars (https://imdb. com/title/tt1043719/) for her, and I got cast as her arch nemesis. Since we enjoyed working together so much, we decided to start our own production company, so we could keep making films together. I had this little script I had been working on, but didn’t really have a reason to finish it, until Silent-But-Deadly was formed.

Silent-But-Deadly Productions (https://silent-but-deadly-productions. com/) is a 501c3 non-profit all female production company. It’s been great so far, as we’ve gotten a good response from a lot of women in the film community. When we sent out our first casting notice, we got emails right away from women who wanted to be on our crew, because they thought our company was such a great idea. We have opportunities foreshadowing, in which we have young girls interested in filmmaking come and observe what we do on set.

Do you think you’ll ever produce your own films?

“Why Am I in a Box?” was the first film I wrote and directed myself. I was also a producer on that. I was credited as a producer on “The Spooner Sisters,” and I’m going to be a producer on all of Silent-But-Deadly’s future projects. The next one we have coming up is called “A Broken Family,” which Brooke Lemke wrote and is directing herself. In June, she is going to be directing another short called “Young Eyes. ” The screenplay was written by Heather Beck (https://heatherbeck. tripod. com/). She contacted us via our website, and asked us if we would be interested in her script. I’m very interested to see how Brooke enjoys directing her own script vs. someone else’s. I’m really looking forward to working with Brooke on this, and seeing what Silent-But-Deadly will be doing in the future.
