Horror Film Shock Gene Found

dna1Variations in a single gene may help explain why horror movies shock some people and entertain others.

The gene – known as COMT – affects a chemical in the brain and is linked to anxiety, scientists at the University of Bonn in Germany have discovered.

The researchers measured the “startle response” of 96 women and found those with one version of the gene are more easily shocked by unpleasant pictures.
