B-Movie Madness Success

I would like to thank everyone that attended the B-Movie Madness film festival in Chicago this past weekend. Everything was a great success, except for the heat!

Im really sorry about that. The theater owner assured me that the heat was on, but I guess there was a leak in the pipes somewhere. But we here in Chicago are hardcore, and used to the cold, so it was not as big of a deal as time went on. Besides, all you had to do is get a few more drinks in you and you warmed up eventually.

Everything went well, movies played great, vendors showed up and I think everyone had a great time. I also apologize for Lou Vockell and Russ Hurley not showing up, but they did have a great excuse… Vagrant got picked up by a distributor so they had to get that film ready and all of the politics along with any deal as well. Congrats to them and we will be seeing Vagrant and Stalking Hand in the stores soon!

I want to thank John Pata for the great intro to Better Off Undead, Lou Vockell for Stalking Hand as well. Big thanks to all of the vendors… Geo (Dollfaced Horrors) Kitley’s Krypt, Deftoons, Dr AC and WildClaw Theater, and to Tony Wash (Scotchworthy Productions – It’s My Party…) for the first chance to play the choose your own adventure version of the film, and Kirsten Pfeiffer (Twisted Glimpes).

Thanks to Dan and Emil for introducing their trailer for The LandLord, and to David for the intro to House of Black Wings. Another thanks to all of the staff here at Horror Society for putting up with me, for Brian Kirst for his on stage presence and Coye Vega for making sure the movies ran smoothley . A big thanks to that.

And of course a huge thanks to all of the fans that came out, and for those of you that I met, thanks again!!

We really want to showcase a broad spectrum of films for each of the events that we will be doing. Not just the blood and gore, but we want to show what all filmmakers are capable of doing, even with a small (or no) budget at all. Our job here at Horror Society is to give the little guys and gals a chance to have their films shown, talked about, reviewed, and give them the exposure they need that the other bigger sites might not do.

With that said, and from the success of B-Movie Madness, we would like to tell everyone that we will be back at the Portage Theater in April for…

Women Of Horror

This will showcase films that are either produced/directed/written by women or have the lead be a woman. There wont be any bikini clad chicks getting killed off in these films (sorry fellas), but each film will feature a strong and dominent female lead or a women’s point of view and their take on a horror film. Half of my writing staff are female and this is one of thier ideas, so its only fair to showcase all sides of the horror genre, and give horror fans a different view of horror movies they might never see.

So if you are a female filmmaker or an indie company whose film(s) fit into this theme, please contact Horror Society. There will be a call for entries soon, and more info on the times and date for the festival itself.

For those of you that love the blood and gore, trust me there will be plenty with these films.

And if that still doesnt get you going, just wait until July…we will be back at Portage again with “SUMMER SLAUGHTER”. Another 12 hour marathon of Serial Killer, Slashers, Psychos, and Sickos! More info will be coming for that one as well.

So once again, thanks to everyone for coming out to support Horror Society and supporting Indie Horror. Our goal is to help build a community of fans, filmmakers, and everyone that loves horror here in Chicago.

We are doing this for you, the fans, and the filmmakers that make these movies. So please let us know what you think. What are we doing right with the site, festivals, anything… and tell us what we are doing wrong as well. We can take it. Just let us know what you want more of and we will do what we can to get that to you!

Email us HERE, or go to the contact page up top and send us your thoughts. We want to hear from you.

Remember, Halloween is all year long with us, so we want to keep the blood flowing for you at all times!

Pictures will be coming shortly!
