Indie horror filmmaker and author Christopher Alan Broadstone has his three original, intense, and thought-provoking shorts “Scream For Me,” “My Skin!,” and “Human No More” presented on this excellent triple feature special edition DVD with hours of extras to keep you entertained.
“Scream For Me” is a 16mm psycho killer flick with a brutal twist. A young man is seen murdering a woman on the floor of an apartment by strangling her and beating her head against the hard floor. Soon after, a psychotic trucker (played by Tony Simmons) comes in to find the girl who he was going to rape and murder was already done in by somebody else. He doesn’t take too kindly to this and proceeds to torture the girl’s murderer in a most vicious, brutal, and degrading way that’s likely to disturb even the most seasoned “torture horror” viewer. Tony Simmons’ performance in this is excellent as is the lighting of the room giving the film a very gritty feeling that’s sure to stay with you long after viewing.
“My Skin!” (shot on digital video) is the story of a murderer (again played by Tony Simmons) who returns to the scene of his crime where he just murdered a woman to get rid of evidence. Soon it appears the murderer is being visited by “death” itself over the telephone. Death appears to have decided a fate for him. While “My Skin!” is, in my opinion, perhaps the weakest of the three shorts, it’s still a well-done short with a good story and another fine performance by Simmons.
“Human No More” (also shot on DV) is the story of a detective (Simmons once again) who lost his family to a serial killer. After the killer took his own life, the detective feels he’s lost everything he’s had to lose as well as his faith. He soon decides it will better if he’s no longer a part of this world as a human (or “human no more” as the title suggests) leading to a breathtaking, inventive ending that’s hard to describe as one must see it to believe it.
The 3 Dead Girls collection is a nice triple pack of Broadstone’s shorts that showcase true guerilla filmmaking at its finest. “Scream For Me” is a very brutal and disturbing effort while “My Skin!” and “Human No More” are very character-driven stories. One features an ending one may call poetic justice while the other ends in a very surreal way that really leaves the viewer thinking.
The DVD is packed with extras including commentaries by Broadstone and cast and crew members, multiple featurettes, interviews, photo galleries, trailers, and much more.
