Punk Writer and Zuda Artist Take on Jack the Ripper & With YOU

Zuda Comics artist and co-creator of Pluck, John Amor and Punk-Swing singer, Wolfgang Parker are hitting the seedy streets of London to take on Jack the Ripper in their forthcoming graphic novel, 1888. And they want YOU in their posse!

1888 is a Victorian Noir where metaphysician, Deklin Skurlock is called in by police to assist tracking Jack the Ripper, but the trail of the killer thrusts him into a supernatural gang war where men kill by the power their faith grants them, where he finds he has no faith of his own.

1888 is an original graphic novel project currently on Kickstarter.com, a beta web site that has given comic book creators a new avenue to produce independent comics with the help of readers, friends, and fans.

Through the Kickstarter community, users can pledge money to back a project, and in turn, backers are given rewards by the creators. Parker and Amor are offering original artwork, copies of the book, limited edition art prints, and even the chance for backers to be characters in the book.  A video presentation informs potential backers about the project, its creative team, and the concept of Kickstarter.

Since posting the project twelve days ago, the team has raised 39% of its funding goal of $6,000 USD, and 1888 has been endorsed by writer Steve Niles (creator of 30 Days of Night and Criminal Macabre) and Marvel Illustrator Mike Perkins (Captain America and Stephen Kings the Stand.)

Deadline for pledges for 1888 is May 23, 2010, and there is currently only one slot left to become a character in the book.

Pencil and Inker John Amor is a 25-year-old artist and concept designer from Cebu City, Philippines. Last October, his co-created title, Pluck won by readers choice to become a regularly published title through Zuda. Amor has also been published by Image Comics in C.B. Cebulskis WONDERLOST anthology, and by Patchwork Comics in The Mask of Manolo. (https://www.johnamorartist.com)

Writer Wolfgang Parker has been the singer/songwriter bass playing front man of the pioneering Punk-Swing band that bears his moniker.  His 16 year music career has lead him to independent film and, in turn, into comic books where he has designed and illustrated pin-ups for Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and works as a writer with Lee Nordling and his company the Pack.
