Gorilla Tango Theatre Interview

I had a chance recently to sit down and chat with Angie and Kelly from Gorilla Tango Theatre here in Chicago about their upcoming play called SLASHER! For those that dont know, Slasher is a fully improvisational show with the audience giving the cast members all the tools they need to commit terror on the stage. Below is the full press release about the show and the audio interview as well!!

SLASHER!
A long form improv show in the style of the popular slasher film genre

Chicago, IL (May 7 – 28, 2010):  Don’t go in the basement! Don’t go in the attic! Don’t have sex in the car! Don’t take a shower! And most importantly, don’t assume that it’s over and that you’re safe. Gorilla Tango Theatre is pleased to present SLASHER! a long form improv show in the style of the popular slasher film genre, directed by Angie McMahon (of Chemically Imbalanced Comedy) for Gorilla Tango Theatre. SLASHER! performs Fridays at 11:30pm, May 7 – 28, 2010 at Gorilla Tango Theatre, 1919 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago 60647.  Tickets are $12; to purchase tickets call 773-598-4549 or visit www.gorillatango.com. Rated R.

Join Gorilla Tango Theatre each Friday night for a fully-improvised long-form show in the style of slasher films. Each night the audience will help the performers write the show by providing different suggestions to help develop the story. SLASHER! was created and directed by Angie McMahon (of Chemically Imbalanced Comedy) for Gorilla Tango Theatre.

Don’t miss it. Or else.

Angie McMahon (creator/director) created and directed Chemically Imbalanced Comedy’s three year long running hit show Bad Review (where they took the worst review from the Chicago Reader and Improvised the show they felt the critic would rather see) and created and directed Theatre Momentum critically acclaimed show Posers (“Recommended by both the Tribune and Time Out Chicago and performed in CIF 11). With her past work with the now defunct Free Associates Theater Company her Improv created shows are very influenced by their work.
