The Gruesome Twosome Tour Review

The Gruesome Twosome Tour
Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie
May 19, 2010 Uptown Amphitheater Charlotte,N.C.

I had the privilege of partaking in a night of Shock Rock performed by the “King of Horror Rock” Alice Cooper and “The Prince of Dark Metal Funk” Rob Zombie. The show as a whole was unbelievable.I will review each performance separately as each was an incredible experience unto itself.

Alice Cooper:
As Cooper has been”Welcoming us to his Nightmare” for over 4 decades,Iwas expecting a more subdued show.I am proud to say I was sadly mistaken.Cooper prowled the stage with slick grace and vicious abandon.Screaming throngs were greeted with music from every incarnation of Alice from “I’m 18″to “Billion Dollar Babies” and from “Poison” to “Vengeance is Mine”. It was a smorgasbord of all we love about his music. The stage show was a mixture of violent vaudeville and Wile E.Coyote complete with guillotines, giant syringes, and many other tricks to delight and dismay. Alice Cooper seems to have bonded with all generations,as their were as many younger people screaming his name as those of my generation or older. If you have never saw Alice Cooper Live, you do yourself a disservice.Cooper is a master showman who should not be missed.

Rob Zombie:
Zombie began his show with a multimedia onslaught of epic proportions. What can I say,the fever pitch that began the show lasted until the final encore.Zombie seemed endowed with an almost limitless supply of energy. His booming vocals and endless movement were complemented by the speed, talent and screaming axe of John 5.Renditions of many his such as “Demonoid Phenomenon”,”Superbeast”and “Thunder Kiss 65”,just to name a few,did not disappoint. The Stage show was a kaleidoscope of movie clips, pyro, and giant killer robots. Rob Zombie lets everyone know that music is still a driving force in his life. A thrill ride until the lights came on.
