Necromancer Makes “Late Night Freak Show” Closing Night Even Freakier
Late Night Freak Show is a theater experience that lives up to its name: it’s a live improv-based comedy show that sends up the late-night talk show format with a freakish sci-fi and B-movie horror vibe. Here, the talk-show host is a mad scientist, Dr. Rotwang Malevelo. And his obligatory sidekick is Huxley—a TV announcer whose brain has been transplanted into a talking Venus Flytrap.
To make its Closing Night on July 29th even freakier, they’ve invited as their Special Guest Chicago’s own self-described necromancer, Neil Tobin—star of the long-running show, Supernatural Chicago. In his weekly performances at Excalibur nightclub, Tobin thrills audiences with true stories of Chicago’s paranormal history combined with improv comedy and interactive demonstrations of the psychic and magical. So you can expect him to give Late Night Freak Show a send-off that’s uniquely creepy, funny, and inexplicable.
• Dr. Malvelo is played by Sam Locke, whose local comedy credits include directing Splatter Theater at Annoyance.
• Huxley is voiced by Peter Robards, who can be seen performing at Annoyance, Playground Theater, and ComedySportz.
