The Grindhouse Film Festival returns to the New Beverly Cinema tonight (Tuesday, August 10th) with two more mindblowing flicks. Relive the now-lost era of the grindhouses and drive-ins! Feel like you’re on 42nd Street c. 1965 – 1985! All films projected in glorious 35mm with an enthusiastic audience – as they were meant to be seen.
First up is the incredibly bizarre THE LOVE EXORCIST {aka PIGS / DADDY’S DEADLY DARLING}, which was written, directed and produced by tough guy character actor Marc Lawrence as a starring vehicle for his daughter Toni. A sleazy and strange family project co-starring Marc Lawrence and Jesse Vint and featuring murder, madness, rape, castration, sex and ravenous pigs with a taste for human flesh, THE LOVE EXORCIST should not be missed in this rare theatrical screening. As an added bonus, the print we’re showing is an alternate version that has an additional scene at the beginning that’s available only here!
Our second feature is the completely ridiculous but totally entertaining SATAN’S MISTRESS, starring the voluptuos and frequently naked Lana Wood (younger sister of Natalie and a former “Bond girl”) as a lonely housewife who takes on a new lover who just happens to be Satan himself. Throw in Britt Ekland, another former “Bond girl”, as a psychic and the great John Carradine as a priest and you’ve got pure exploitation trash that’s guaranteed to deliver non-stop thrills and laughter.
As usual the evening will begin with our world-famous free raffle of assorted trash and treasures, followed by an amazing reel of classic demonic possession trailers from our friends at Grindhouse Releasing. The event starts at 7:30pm, and admission for the double-feature, raffle and reel of rare exploitation trailers is still only $8.00. You won’t find a bigger bang for your entertainment dollar during this economic meltdown!
