Hell is Full

DIRECTED BY: Steve Hudgins
REVIEWED BY: Mario Dominick

The latest micro budget horror creation from Kentucky’s Steve Hudgins and Big Biting Pig Productions has been promoted as being a “zombie movie like no other.” After several intriguing promo teasers on the web, I wondered what new spin the team behind Maniac on the Loose, GoatSucker, and Widow would give to the zombie genre.

Enter Hell is Full, the movie starts out with a man being attacked in his backyard by a zombie. With this opening we immediately become aware that a zombie story is what we’re getting into, but the movie takes on several twists and turns totally unexpected for this subgenre of horror. Steve Hudgins and Big Biting Pig Productions are known for their use of creative storytelling involving unusual twists and surprises and introduction of characters in most inventive ways. The movie is essentially very similar to Maniac on the Loose in the way the plot unravels. Here the introduction of each character provides the viewer with a puzzle you must put together as events unfold, creating an atmosphere of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. For this unique storytelling style alone, Hudgins and Big Biting Pig must be commended for their efforts in bringing horror fans something totally new and original at a time when the market is being flooded with so many remakes and standard teeny bopper-style slashers and whatnot. Hell is Full doesn’t shy away from the red stuff either as their is a good bit of gore and zombie nosh to be found including arm chompings, flesh ripping, gut munching, and blood puking. Also thrown in for a sick measure is a scene where a hospital maintenance worker finds a puddle of urine on a hospital floor from a woman infected with a zombie virus and to prove to himself that it’s urine touches it and licks his fingers which then has dire consequences.

Hell is Full also features several veterans from previous Big Biting Pig movies including Randy Hardesty, P.J. Woodside, Cindy Maples, etc. and several new faces as well. The new talent added to this project certainly helps the production and I look forward to seeing what else Big Biting Pig will do as they continue to branch out.

Hell is Full is currently available on DVD from Big Biting Pig themselves at www.bigbitingpigproductions.com. Extras include audio commentary, deleted scenes, a blooper reel, trailers and several promo teasers, and a trailer reel for the other films in the Big Biting Pig catalog.
