HUGE Oshkosh Horror Update

We here at OshkoshHorror.com are starting to lose our minds. The Zombie Walk is just over 2 weeks away (!!!) so aside from trying to hammer out all the final details, we have this other things in life that require attention too, something called jobs and a bunch of other boring stuff. On top of that we are gearing up for our trip to Wizard World Chicago this weekend. That’s right, we are going to a comic book convention and are darn proud of it.

Okay, let’s stop wasting time and jump right into everything.

FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT presents THE SCREAMING SKULL – This Friday, August 20 – 8PM
Newlyweds Eric and Jenni Whitlock retire to his desolate mansion, where Eric’s first wife Marianne died from a mysterious freak accident. Jenni, who has a history of mental illness, begins to see strange things including a mysterious skull, which may or may not be a product of her imagination. This film is “so scary” that when it was released in 1958 the studio offered to cover any burial services and funeral costs for anyone in the audience who died of fright. You might know where this is going…all attendees will receive a Certificate of Assurance promising the same deal from 1958. Okay, okay, okay, no one is going to die of fright so don’t worry, but you can still walk way with your very own Death Insurance courtesy of Friday Fright Night. The movie starts at 8pm and is FREE! Plus there’s a free raffle to win a $25 to The Exclusive Company. How can you pass it up; free movie, free raffle, cheap snacks, good company and zombies! Check out the trailer below!

UPCOMING FIELD TRIP – PIRANHA 3D – Sunday, August 29
Our good friend Erich Polnow (read his interview here: https://oshkoshhorror.com/2010/07/12/bits-and-pieces-an-interview-with-erich-claude-here) has done us all a huge favor; he was able to get Piranha 3D to the Fond Du Lac theater! After talking with the Oshkosh theater a couple weeks back, they would not tell us if they would be getting Piranha 3D, and even last week they still didn’t know. Turns out they are getting the film (which opens this weekend) but we are still going to go to FDL. For one, Erich worked directly with the theater and persuaded them to get the film saying we would bring a group in and we can’t let his work go empty handed. Plus the FDL theater is 100% independently owned, so that alone is enough reason to give them some business.

Piranha 3D has been promising copious amounts of bloodshed which definitely grabbed our attention. Since we will be gone this weekend, we are postponing the filed trip until next weekend. We need to confirm times yet but we are going to try out a later matinee. Some feedback from last month’s House of Horrors showed that people were interested in a matinee so we are doing it. *THIS IS NOT 100% CONFIRMED but it looks like it will be a 3:30 showing. We will let you know next week once we can confirm the time with the theater. Pencil it in on your calendar and will we give you all the details once we find out next week.

And now, onto the Zombie Walk…just a quick recap this time around.

FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT presents NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD – Friday, August 27 – 8PM
This year INFECTION 2010 isn’t just a one day event, we are taking over an entire week! Things start with the grandaddy of zombie films, the one and only Night of the Living Dead! Night introduced the world to cannibalistic zombies in 1968 and has changed horror ever since. Hell, without this flick there might not have ever been an Oshkosh Zombie Walk. Night is part of Friday Fright Night, our bi-weekly screenings of classic 50s and 60s horror/sci-fi films at the Time Community Theater (445 N. Main St., Downtown Oshkosh). So come join us as we begin the fun of INFECTION 2010: The Second Annual Oshkosh Zombie Walk. The movie starts at 8pm and is FREE! Plus there’s a free raffle to win a $25 to The Exclusive Company. How can you pass it up; free movie, free raffle, cheap snacks, good company and zombies! Check out the trailer below!

OFFICIAL INFECTION T-SHIRT – UNLEASHED & ORDERING INFORMATION!
*REMINDER: PRE-ORDERS END IN ONE WEEK* Feast your eyes on this! Just like last year, we teamed up with the unbelievably talented Dave Aikins, artist of such characters Dora The Explorer and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Dave has also worked for Procter & Gamble, Hasboro and Nestle…just to name a few. But perhaps you’re like us and know Dave’s fantastic artwork from Twilight Creations ZOMBIES!!! – The Board Game, which is why it makes perfect sense that Dave is joining the forces with the Oshkosh Zombie Walk.

What we have here is completely original artwork solely for INFECTION 2010 and, let’s face it, it rules. Look at that close up image, could you ask for anything better? We think not. Even though the zombies are going to be taking over Downtown Oshkosh, construction has been the real monster for not just Downtown but the whole city this year and what better way to commemorate it? You are not going to find this artwork anywhere else, folks, this is one of a kind.

The INFECTION shirt will be available at the Zombie Walk After Party for only 10 bucks. Seriously, we must be crazy, that is one hell of a deal. 10 bucks lets you proudly show off the killer artwork on the front and the terrific sponsors who are making INFECTION 2010 what it is on the back. *Note about the sponsors: we are still adding more and more sponsors to our already enormous list so the sponsors shown are not the final ones, more will be added.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A LIMITED RUN! That means once they’re gone, they’re gone. We will have a good supply at the After Party, but we want to make everyone happy as best we can so we are offering a pre-order. The pre-order isn’t going to save you any money, but it WILL guarantee you a shirt. Pre-orders will be running until 11:59PM ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25. There is no limit to how many you can order and shirts are available in Adult Small-XXL. If you are looking for a different size please contact us before ordering – info@oshkoshhorror.com. Shirts will be available for pick up at House of Heroes Comics & Games (407 N. Main St., Oshkosh) on Friday, September 3 from noon-7pm and will be available at the After Party itself the day of the Zombie Walk. *IMPORTANT* All you will need to do is print out your Paypal receipt to provide at pick up. You don’t even have to partake in INFECTION 2010 to get one of these shirts. If you live out of town and won’t be walking with us we can ship your shirt to you for an additional $2.

ZOMBIE WALK KICK-OFF SHOW – Friday, September 3 – Reptile Palace – 10PM
Twas the night before the Zombie Walk when all through the house…ah screw it, no need to be cute here. Come party with us at the Reptile Palace (141 High Ave., Oshkosh) the night BEFORE the Zombie Walk! We have put together one hell of an evening of music for no other reason than to have some horror-themed fun.

The night will feature Oshkosh’s very own The Lemurs! It’s been a while since these guys have played a show and they are super excited to play for the Zombie Walk. The Lemurs have been the must-see band for many Halloweens in Oshkosh when they busted out their Misfits set and they are the ones responsible for the theme song to the popular Oshkosh zombie flick, Better Off Undead. Joining The Lemurs are The Suspirios and The Savini Effect. The Suspirios are coming back to Oshkosh after remaining quiet for a year or so and are bringing back their crazy luchador-inspired, horror-themed blend of surf punk rock. The Savini Effect hails from Milwaukee, four horror geeks playing the theme songs to some of your favorite horror flicks! These guys bust out theme songs from Phantasm, Zombi, The Deadly Spawn and so many more awesome movies!

This is a 21+ show that is free and starts at 10pm. Now, you do not need to dress up as a zombie for the show, seeing how we want to make sure everyone zombifies themselves for the Zombie Walk the very next day. Nonetheless, zombies are welcome! If you feel the need then by all means, get yourself bloody. If you don’t want to dress up don’t even worry about it, come on out for a night of horror-themed music and celebrate zombies taking over Oshkosh!
