Vampires of Bloody Island Global DVD Release

Vampire comedy movie ‘The Vampires of Bloody Island’ features the best of Goth.

Vampire Films and Goth Music have always gone together hand in pale white hand. So fans of some of the best loved Goth bands in the world will be excited to find them in the latest vampire movie to get a global DVD release.

British bands Inkubus Sukkubus, Vampire Division and Corpse Nocturna along with Italian band Theatres des Vampires, Fever from Portugal and The Suburban Vamps from Maryland, USA all have tracks featured in ‘The Vampires of Bloody Island’, a spoof British vampire comedy amassing an enormous cult following in the UK and Australia and now looking set to do the same across America.

The film stars Pamela Kempthorne (Harry Potter, Shaun of the Dead) as Morticia de’Ath, a sarcastic vampire queen with ambitiously evil plans. Blundering into her island domain are two bickering London office workers and a mysterious vampire-hunting window cleaner, an unlikely trio who must fight lusty vampires, hungry werewolves and Satanic demons, while desperately trying to evade capture, keep their clothes on and stay alive long enough to defeat Morticia’s terrifyingly evil Vampire Army.

With a kicking Goth soundtrack and a laughter filled story, it’s no wonder Fortean Times magazine wrote “The Vampires of Bloody Island could attain Rocky Horror style cult status”, while Horrorscribe magazine said “This has got to be the hottest new Vamp movie DVD out right now.”

Released in the UK, Europe and Australia a few months ago, the film is gaining a loyal cult following fuelled by rave reviews in the press and celebrity endorsements including Star Trek actor Manu Intiraymi, Oscar shortlisted director Chris Jones and vampire author Narrelle Harris.

A growing trend is the Vampires of Bloody Island Party, kicked off in style by an article on the Radio Times website suggesting ‘The Vampires of Bloody Island’ as an ideal nights entertainment with friends, fancy dress and a bottle of wine.

Due to the phenomenal demand across Europe, the film has now also been released in Canada, the USA and South America. For American vampire movie lovers, and fans of Inkubus Sukkubus, Theatres des Vampires and the other bands featured in the film, it will be interesting to see whether ‘The Vampires of Bloody Island’ can repeat the same kind of success in the USA it has elsewhere. If the buzz surrounding the film in the UK is anything to go by, this is one refreshingly funny film that could soon take off in a big, big way.
