Stacey Dixon Interview

Straight out of Nashville and onto your computer screens, I bring you up and coming horror starlet, Stacey Dixon. She has acted in 10 films in the past 3 years, 6 of them being horror related. During the interview I refer to her as a triple threat, but I quickly came to learn that she has many more talents that make her an interesting person as well as a stand out figure in independent horror. Before posting the interview, I would like to thank Stacey for agreeing to do this interview and being so prompt with her answers. With that said, let’s get down to it!

I think the most interesting thing I’ve found while researching for this interview is that it appears you’re a triple threat. You model, you act, and you’re a make up artist. Out of all three career paths, which do you think is your biggest passion?

Stacey: I really like doing all these things but acting is where my passion lies. I am a tattoo artist as well!

Let’s discuss the film, Shudder. In Shudder, not only did you act and do make up, but IMDB lists you as the producer. What was it like having that kind of responsibility opposed to having the responsibility of learning lines? Is either job harder than the other?

Stacey: As a producer you take on so much work! It’s from beginning to end! I do really enjoy the planning side of film making. We also own a local film production company in Nashville! And we put on two Tattoo & Horror Conventions! Check out https://www.fullmooninc.net for more details!

Tiffany Shepis has a cameo in Shudder, correct? How was it working on set with such an icon for independent horror? Did you learn anything new?

Stacey: At the time when Tiffany was filming in Shudder I didn’t really get a chance to talk with her. It was so busy! But now after four years, Tiffany and I FINALLY get to chat every once in awhile! She is really an awesome person and actress! I’ll take advice from her whenever I can get it! Tiffany is also going to be one of the guests at The Full Moon Tattoo & Horror Festival.

The plot of one film you’re currently working on sounds pretty intense – Dead Girls Don’t Cry. The summary I’ve read mentions sex slavery, incest, electric shock therapy, midgets, and that it will “push the boundaries of today’s horror.” Without giving too much away, can you give us some insight into this production? What is your role in Dead Girls Don’t Cry?

Stacey: As of right now, I don’t have much information to give on Dead Girls Don’t Cry other than I’m excited about being part of the film!

I read that you learned special affects make up from Tom Savini. Do you think that studying under “The Godfather of Gore” will give you a winning edge over other special affects artists?

Stacey: Hahaha. I was really excited about learning from Tom, but since I don’t really do much effects work anymore, my edge has kinda softened! But if anyone does plan on going to school for special effects makeup, I do suggest Tom’s program. It’s the best out there!

As I mentioned early, you’re also a model. Have you ever appeared in any big name publications? Where can Stacey Dixon fans look forward to seeing your pictures next?

Stacey: I’ve done calendars, Pinup magazines, Glamour magazines. This year I’m shooting for two covers, Rock Confidential and Ol’ Skool Rodz. I was voted #1 Smokin Hot Nashvillian and #3 Best Local Actress (under Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon) by the Nashville Scene. And I have ten Award Winning Pictures!

Girl from the Ring vs Girl from the Grudge, who would win?

Stacey: I’d have to go with the girl from The Ring! She is freaking creepy! Don’t get me wrong, they are both creepy but I’m going with The Ring Girl on this one.

What horror franchise would you most like to see continue on with another installment, instead of a remake?

Stacey: I REALLY like Michael Myers, so I’d say Halloween! I know it’s been done so much, but damn Michael Myers is HOT!

Michael Myers…hot…really? Hey, at least she didn’t say Freddy Krueger! Now, Stacey mentioned her film festival. The 2011 Nashville Full Moon Horror Film Festival is accepting submissions up until April 7, 2011. Independent film makers should send in their films, and anyone in the Nashville area should go check it out! I’m positive this will not be the last of Stacey Dixon that you see on HorrorSociety. My interest has peaked on her current film Dead Girls Don’t Cry. I’ll be looking for news on that project as time goes on.

So, again, thank you Stacey for taking the time to chat with me. Continue to rock!

This is MGDSquan. Have a good night, everyone.
