Wrong Turn 4 In Pre-Production?

Looks like we’re in store for another Wrong Turn film. Despite the lackluster reviews of Wrong Turn 3, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has apparently greenlit a fourth installment in the franchise. Declan O’Brian, the director of Wrong Turn 3 and Sharktopus, is rumored to return for Wrong Turn 4. Wrong Turn 4 will be filming this winter in Canada, and will be released straight-to-DVD just as with the last 2 sequels.

Several sources have provided a plot summary. “Wrong Turn 4 follows a group of friends that decide to go snowmobiling during their winter break. They make a “wrong turn”, getting lost in a storm, and seek shelter in an abandoned sanatorium. They are completely isolated by the storm and are thankful they can get out of the elements, but the sanatorium has a troubled past, and some of its former patients still reside there and are not happy about the intrusion. In a deadly game of cat and mouse, the college kids must fight to survive the night.”

This plot summary has caused several horror insiders to believe the franchise is taking a turn in a different direction and departming from the incestuous cannibal theme. However, I could see a way of that being worked in. I mean, come on…most people don’t become blood thirsty killers overnight. It’s completely possible that some members of 3 Finger’s family were institutionalized at the beginning of the century to try and correct their mental disturbances. Well, obviously it didn’t work, but this is my theory of how they could keep with the concept of the previous three films.

No official word has been announced yet, but Wrong Turn 4 is rumored to come out in late 2011.

  1. What the hell? Wrong Turn cannot cut away from the cannibal theme. That is the whole point. Now, I have seen the previews for Sharkyopus, and Im not to excited to see it, but wrong turn 4 better be good. Im with the snow idea, but the cannibalistic Three Finger, my personal favorite, better return. If not… I dont think Im going to be so excited.
