The Fourth Kind (2009)

In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When an UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it’s known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. Modern-day Alaska, where mysteriously since the 1960s – a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here is this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented. The Fourth Kind exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

Okay, let me just get his out of the way right now….this is not based on fact, and since this movie was released in 2009, many of you readers know it as well. Just another clever hoax to reel-in those who believe in UFOs. So, let me set the record straight too – I don’t believe in UFOs, so it’s very hard to believe in the hype.

Milla Jovovich portrays Dr. Abigail Emily Tyler in this movie. I must say that of the movies I’ve seen with Milla, this is my least favorite. But this is my least favorite movie period. Milla’s performance is not bad, it’s the whole concept of the movie that I find offensive.

However, I really love how the suspense is retained throughout the movie. It’s the type of suspense that I like – on the edge of your seat from start-to-end. To bad it’s about *cough* alien abductions.

This is not a bad movie, but when it’s passed off as one based on fact, I have real problems with it. It’s not right to mislead your audience. But if you like suspenseful tales & UFOs, it shouldn’t really make a difference.

  1. TBH i think the review here is really harsh!!
Bigging up films like “Grave encounters” which has more holes in it than one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s zombie corpses and dissing “The Fourth Kind” really says it all to me.

Don’t ruin the film for others who have not seen it. let them make up their own mind if it’s reel or not.. you do realise you just ruined this GEM for whoever reads this review…..

When i first saw this film i had to go online and research to find out if it was true or not, it sucked me in nearly instantly and scared the shit out of me!!

And i don’t really believe in alien abductions but after seeing this i did re-think a lot..

anyway, for anyone who is about to watch “grave encounters”
Just pick up “THE FOURTH KIND” instead!!
    YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!!

    AND THAT’S A MEROUJAN GUARANTEE!! ;)
