Where Are They Now: Samantha Hahn

Samantha Hahn first gained mainstream recognition when she won the 2005 National American Miss Teen pageant. She actually appeared at my high school in New Jersey my junior year as part of the NJ Cares About Bullying campaign. When she was younger, middle school aged, she was teased and physically abused by her peers at school for, get this, being too pretty. Strange and pathetic world we live in, right? After her presentation I got to meet her. She’s a sweet girl and signed an autograph for me. Little did I know, I’d catch her in some notable horror films sometime later…

After her small, five episode stint on As The World Turns, which Donald Trump seems to guarantee for all the pageant winners, she disappeared for a bit. However, less than a year later she burst back onto the scene, this time in independent horror films. First she was part of the principle cast of Return To Sleep Away Camp in 2008. This would be her first movie role ever. Next she played one of the main characters in Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet in 2009. Both of these horror films were promoted heavily before their release and her characters play substantial roles in each film. And, believe it or not, she’s not a bad actress!

So, where is she now? She appeared in the Jonas Brother 3D movie as an uncredited girlfriend. I don’t know if she was actually dating one of them, but the Jonas Brothers and Samantha Hahn are both from north Jersey. Anyway! She appeared in another indie horror film called The Ground House in 2010. Stills, a website, and a trailer were released for the film, but the production company, Horrorwood Productions, is having some sort of problems so finalization of the film have been delayed.

Currently, she’s filming a movie called Twylight Zones. And while it sounds like it’s a horror film, it’s not. It’s a drama. Oh, well. Hopefully The Ground House comes out sometime this year and Samantha Hahn makes her return to the indies to please all the horror fans. Keep an eye on her, she could end up being a scream queen in a couple of years.
