Indie Horror Film “Night Things” at Motor City Nightmares Film Festival April 16

NOVI, MICHIGAN, April 11, 2011 – “Night Things,” an independent horror/sci-fi feature recently completed by Last Night of April Productions, will screen at the Motor City Nightmares Film Festival in Novi, Michigan, Saturday April 16 at 11:30 PM. The independent feature was shot on Super 16 film in and around Denver, Colorado, and Chicago, Illinois, by award-winning filmmakers Ward Crockett and Ryan Notch. “This isn’t a zombie apocalypse or teenagers-trapped-in-a-house-with-a-serial-killer flick,” says director Ward Crockett, “though I do enjoy those movies, and we certainly took a grindhouse approach in shooting this film. ‘Night Things’ is a science-fiction horror film with a mind-bending story, an eerie and unnerving atmosphere, and some very unusual monsters.”

Synopsis: Two women find themselves trapped between life and death by a dark and mysterious machine. As they search for an escape, they must battle the Lures, a race of creatures determined to imprison them until nightfall, when the vicious Night Things come out to feed upon those who stray from the light. Soon they discover that their only escape is the evil machine itself. But using it may require the ultimate sacrifice…

As students of horror, science fiction and grindhouse cinema, Crockett and Notch set out to create a film that taps into why moviegoers flock to the theaters for the latest edition of scares and thrills. True horror does not lie in spattering blood and sickening gore and the grotesque visages of monsters. True horror lies deep within us. With this in mind, Crockett and Notch drew inspiration from horror masters John Carpenter, Takashi Shimizu and Stanley Kubrick to craft a haunting and suspenseful film filled with rich performances and scares aplenty.

“And the ending will blow you away,” says Crockett.

Ward Crockett and Ryan Notch are the owners and managers of Last Night of April Productions, formed in October 2005 to produce horror-themed film ventures. Additional information, photos and videos are available on the company’s websites:
