With estimates now arriving, several sources are reporting that Scream 4 and Rio will be battling it out this weekend for the #1 spot at the Box Office. Rio is a new animated kids movie about a macaw who is believed to be the last of his kind, until a female shows up and he and his owner go on a journey to find it. My opinion of Scream 4 is below average, but as a fan of the franchise as a whole, I’m really hoping it can beat out a film about a bird. Can horror fans pull off a win? Scream 4 made over $1,000,000 last night on midnight showings. Online pulls also indicate that the interest in Scream 4 far outweighs other anticipated releases such as Friday the 13th in 2009 and Halloween in 2007. Right now, boxofficemojo.com is predicting Rio will make $44,000,000 this weekend, while Scream 4 is predicted to make about $50,000,000. That would already make Scream 4 an instant success, being that its budget is $40,000,000.

saw the advance midnight showing last night (and about to go see it AGAIN tonight @ 10:30pm) and i have to say that it's TOTALLY worth the ticket price. 2nd best one next to the series only to the first SCREAM. it was original, funny, surprising, etc! the opening sequence almosts beats out Drew Barrymore's but not by much.
