Five Film Facts About Scream

This article, Five Film Facts: Scream, was posted on Yahoo.com today. I figured I’d post it for whoever doesn’t get a chance to read it or doesn’t see it. Here’s a summary of some of the facts, but you can read it for yourself here.

  • Drew Barrymore was originally cast as Sidney, but had to change roles due to scheduling conflicts.
  • Reese Witherspoon and Brittany Murphy were considered for the role of Sidney too.
  • Dewey (David Arquette) was supposed to die from his injuries in the first film. Two versions were shot, including the one where he lives, and they were both tested to audiences with Dewey living being the more well received version.
  • Scream was originally titled “Scary Movie.” A spoof movie, Scary Movie, was made that directly parodied Scream. The sequels, Scary Movie 3 & 4, starred Anthony Anderson. Anthony Anderson currently stars in Scream 4 as well.
  • Roger L Jackson, having never appeared in any of the four films, is actually on the set of every film to talk to the actors, a technique used to keep the mystery and chills realistic to them.

Wow. Could you imagine how different things would be if Drew Barrymore was Sidney and there was no Dewey after the first film?
