Tom Devlin – 1313FX

Southern Haunts – “Tom, describe the experience of being a contestant on “Face Off.”

Tom Devlin – “Being a contestant on Face Off was pretty awesome! I met some great people and got to work with a lot of materials that I may not otherwise have had easy access to. I got to go to the Psycho House, which was very cool. I also got to meet a lot of great guest judges, a lot of people I respect. One of the greatest things was the availability of resources and materials, for example, if an airbrush gun got clogged you didn’t have to worry about unclogging it, you just dropped it and grabbed another one.”

Southern Haunts – “You recently finished a project in Mississippi, what can you tell us about that?”

Tom Devlin – “I was asked to come to Canton, Mississippi on a project called “Big Bad” for director Opie Cooper. It went awesome. We constructed a full creature suit, very suggestive of a werewolf/sasquatch type creature. It was awesome because it wasn’t just a straight horror film; it was more along the lines of movies such as “Monster Squad” or “Goonies” for example. It was really cool. We got to make this awesome creature. It was tough and cold on the Canton project; I even think it snowed one of the days. The locations were incredible. We were in this ancient jail and a cotton gin. I met some very talented individuals and really enjoyed the project. I am scheduled to work on a couple of projects through Ivox and hope to return to Mississippi.” You can follow the progress of “Big Bad” here: www.facebook.com/bigbadmovie

Southern Haunts – “What projects are you working on now or coming up next?”

Tom Devlin – “1313fx has lots of projects in the near future. We just finished a movie called “Sand Shark,” for the SYFY channel. We are currently working on a project in Belize where we will be creating giant beetles. I am not sure of the title yet. We are hopefully shooting in April. We also have big movie in pre-production called “Dances With Werewolves” which we are doing some really wicked werewolves. The creatures are absolutely insane, their on stilts, and they have arm extensions. There’s a whole werewolf transformation on this film that develops on horseback. It is pretty insane.”…
