‘Rift’ Details

A new horror film, Rift, saw its LA premier last week. So, I thought this would be a good time to share all the details about Rift with you, just incase it ever sees a wider theatre release or DVD release . You can check out all the arrivals, pictures, details, and other information like the LA showtimes at the film’s official facebook here. Now, on to the details!

Rift isn’t that much of an indie film, as it has a large budget of $3,000,000. It was created under Gjenious Productions, with LazRael Lison taking the helm as writer and director. Here is the tale that the film’s leader came up with: “In 2001 several college students were brutally murdered inside of a newly refurbished Town Creek Apartments. To this day there are still no definite answers. Jennifer Campbell, a graduate student with aspirations of a journalistic career, who is eager to prove herself. She amasses lots of evidence that convinces her even more of the dark history surrounding the town. When she forces her way into the building, it doesn’t take long before she is given a crash history lesson on why it is better to keep some secrets hidden and some names forgotten about.”

Starring in Rift, which is apparently based on true events, are Leslie Easterbrook (The Devil’s Rejects), Richmond Arquette (Zodiac), and Darcy Fowers (Messengers 2). Rounding out the cast are Tom Wright, Ali Costello, Shary Nasssimi, Siobhan Flynn, and Sonia Rockwell. Usually “based on true events,” is a ploy used by films to intrigue the audience. Films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Exorcism of Emily Rose have used this device, but are only barely, loosely based on true events. I demand to see proof that something along the lines of the script of Rift really happened!

You can view the trailer at Rift‘s official website here. It’s got a lot going on – slasher elements, supernatural elements, lots of gore, lots of sexuality lots of…everything. Like I said, it’s got a lot going on. Hopefully this translates well when watched as a whole film and not a movie trailer. I hope to be able to view this film some day. Any way I can receive a screener? Hello?
