Insidious (2010)

A gripping story of a family in search of help for their son, Dalton, who fell into a mysterious comatose on one ordinary morning. Little do they know that there is much more to this endless sleep than meets the eye as they explore the paranormal, and rediscover the past; the key to getting their son back once and for all.

This movie runs 103 minutes and stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins.

When this movie was originally released, I was skeptical of its origin. But upon watching this on VOD, I understand now that I was completely wrong. And Insidious is very thing that Paranormal Activity 1 and 2 are not…awesome!

Although Insidious starts slow, the quick burn is long worth the wait. And the one thing that I enjoyed is that when something goes bump, we get to see what it is that did the bumping. And the ghosts, spirits or astral projections, look especially creepy. I never thought before of how menancing spirits can truly be.

One thing that I like about this movie is that when all the creepy stuff starts happening, the other two children in the family are whisked out of harms way. In movies gone by, those children would have stayed and been put in the same danger (i.e. Amityville Horror, The Messenger, and to some extinct The Shinning.)

The second thing I like is that the father is very active in the story and the kids’ lives. When weird things start happening, the father is supportive and willing to listen to those who are sent to help. Even though he has a moment of doubt, he quickly recomposes himself and supports his wife’s decision.

Overall, Insidious is a creepy movie and yet some would consider it scary. I’m okay with that because I can stand behind that statement. The claim that it is the scariest movie of the year is accurate and I’m glad that it is Jame Wan the one who brought us such a great story. I would definetely recommend this movie to the true horror fan. Maybe eventhose who are not. It’s a great ride.
