The Bleeding Review

The Bleeding
Review By Sharon Foss

Shawn Black’s family was massacred and he is going to seek revenge. That’s The Bleeding in a nutshell. No more, no less. Well maybe less. A lot less.

Black has seen battle overseas in the military, so he’s not one to shy away from a fight. He sets out to find the “people” who are responsible for his ache. The problem is, they aren’t people. Not technically.

While vampires have been around a long time, every few hundred years a new king of vampires is born. This time, his name is Cain, played by Vinnie Jones (The Midnight Meat Train, Snatch, Gone in Sixty Seconds).

Director Charlie Picerni and writer Lance Lane have a decent, done-before story, but unfortunately for them, they have Michael Matthias (The Box) and a few others who kill the movie. Kill in the movie? No. Kill the movie, period. Matthias plays Black, a Vin Diesel lookalike—shaved head, huge muscles, and fast cars.

He’s got the look for the shoot ‘em up part, but the way he delivers the dialogue is a joke. And he’s not the only one! Even Jones, who is frightening to even look at in The Midnight Meat Train doesn’t quite have the same effect in this movie. Very disappointing.

Rapper DMX also makes a small appearance, as does Kat Von D (L.A. Ink). Von D is Vanya, a vamped and tattooed second fiddle to Cain. What’s that Kat? Why so blue—you dogged a bullet girl, perk up. The movie may be lacking, but you are much better off!

Also making a mark is Michael Madsen, who is Father Roy. He has been waiting for the slayer to come around to get rid of Cain. Madsen, of course, is great. He always is! Especially when he comments on the “nice ass” of a waitress while in his priestly robes.

I reiterate that the story is decent. You will learn why Black is the only slayer—the only person who can rid the world of Cain. Find out why he is the chosen one by watching. Or don’t. Email me and I will tell you. It’s just not worth the watching time.
