Paige Kay Davis, the Director of Business Development at Alternative Cinema, one of the leading distributors of independent horror films, has been added to the list of guests appearing at the Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival.
ALTERNATIVE CINEMA’S PAIGE KAY DAVIS TO GUEST AT BUFFALO SCREAMS HORROR FILM FESTIVAL
Buffalo, New York – Paige Kay Davis, the Director of Business Development at Alternative Cinema, one of the leading distributors of independent horror films, has been added to the list of guests appearing at the Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival, which runs five days this year, from Wednesday, Oct. 26th – Sunday, Oct. 30th. Other announced guests include actress and filmmaker Melantha Blackthorne, and writer-director Roy Frumkes (Street Trash), who will receive the festival’s Dedication to Excellence in Independent Filmmaking award.
Davis says, “I’m delighted to have this opportunity to support the second Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival, organized by my long-time friend and colleague Greg Lamberson, director of cult favorites Slime City and Slime City Massacre, and his partner Emil Novak. Last year’s Buffalo Screams event offered an incredible selection of genre films and shorts from around the globe, and this year’s program promises to be even more impressive.”
Distribution is the Holy Grail for indie filmmakers,” says Lamberson. “Paige is truly one of the hardest working and most knowledgeable people in this business, and her participation in this year’s festival gives local and visiting filmmakers a rare opportunity to discuss the distribution of indie horror films with her face to face. Filmmakers need to understand sales, marketing, acquisition, and delivery materials, and Paige knows these areas inside and out.”
Davis will also be on hand to screen one of Alternative Cinema’s releases for next year under its Camp Motion Pictures label: Trippin’, the debut feature film directed by Devi Snively, whose unique vision and macabre humor have informed short films that continue to garner festival and fan expo acclaim, including a recent screening and panel in San Diego Comic Con.
“Despite a dramatically changed market,” Davis concludes, “it’s Alternative Cinema’s (and my personal goal) to support creative, intelligent and sometimes just plain out-there films by up and coming new talents.”
The deadline for film and screenplay submissions to Buffalo Screams is September 15th. The festival will also present a 30th anniversary screening of The Burning, filmed in the area, as well as Frumkes’s Street Trash and The Definitive Document of the Dead.
