Frostbite?! Fear ‘Snow Shark’ Instead!

We’ve seen sharks in the ocean (obviously). We’ve seen sharks in freshwater. We’ll even see sharks on land in SyFy’s Sand Shark. But, for right now, I bring you a shark in the snow! Show Shark: Ancient Snow Beast has wrapped production and is official in post production. The crew behind post production will include Brett Piper of Shock-O-Rama fame and Mark Polonia (Splatter Beach).

Here’s the synopsis of Snow Shark: “12 years ago during a scientific expedition three animal biologists stumbled upon a great discovery that ended in tragedy. Seven years ago the disappearances of many locals tied into that discovery. Now a crypto zoologist and team will seek the answers to the legend of the Ancient Snow Beast…if they can live to tell the tale!”

Now before you harp on the plot, just think about it. As far as creature features go, a shark surviving in snow seems semi-believable or at least acceptable as a science fiction explanation. It sure makes a lot more sense than some of the other creature features we’ve seen in the past two years. However, neither the trailer nor the behind the scenes photos (which can be found below) feature the snow shark! And I want to see! Hopefully they’re saving the reveal for the film.

Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast is directed by Sam Qualiana, an award-winning film maker who directed several short films including Swamp Squad of The Dead and Something After Midnight. He is joined behind the camera by producers Greg Lamberson (Slime City), Richard Chizmar who has written for Fear Itself and Masters of Horror, Marc Makowski (Photo Manipulation), and John Maclay (Slime City Massacre). On the other side of the camera, cast members include Michael O’Hear, Sam Qualiana, Jackey Hall, Robert Bozek, CJ Qualiana, Andrew Elias, Andy Taylor, Kathy Murphy, John Renna, Chris Wroblewski, and many others.

  1. Um… Total Sand Sharks ripoff… except with no noteable cast… they even stole the key art/poster… i'm sure this'll be a stellar piece of sh*t

    • Not at all. SNOW SHARK was a short film director Sam Qualiana made 8 years ago, and which he decided to turn into a feature. It was also filming in December of 2010 and winter of 2011, before SAND SHARK was even announced. The poster also appeared before key art for SAND SHARK appeared, and isn't even the film's key art: it was one of several "fan" submissions submitted for a contest. I We were halfway through filming when SAND SHARKS was announced; I remember, because Sam was upset. I don't remember ever seeing a film about a creature that lives in the snow like this one does. SAND SHARKS, on the other hand… have you ever seen BLOOD BEACH? Or the episode of THE OUTER LIMITS with creatures living in the sand? How about THE MOLE PEOPLE or INVADERS FROM MARS? Every one of the films in the current "shark" trend is just a variation on a theme. You keep trolling, but maybe spend 5 minutes doing at least some cursory research before you acuse someone of lifting an idea.
