It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year and Word Up! is celebrating in blood-tastic style! Highlighted by the hauntingly sweet melodies of musician Taylor Smith, this Word Up! also features two frighteningly awesome writing powerhouses!
Acclaimed journalist and writer (and super duper horror lover) Owen Keehnen will be on hand to majestically deliver selections from his epic fright masterpiece, “Doorway Unto Darkness” while the essential, ghoulishly amazing Ursula Bielski (founder of Chicago Hauntings) will be on hand to charm and amaze with her tales of local legends and ghostly activity.
Proving that Chicago has a horror scene like none other, powerful screenwriter (Scream Queen Campfire – whose proposed cast includes The Exorcist’s Eileen Dietz) and actress (Psycho Street and the award winning What They Say) Kelsey Zukowski will be on (floating) hand to discuss what it’s like to be a kick ass lady shaping her own path in the bowel flinging trenches.
Actor Cory Schiffern will discuss his gruesomely awesome days as the male lead in ‘When Heaven Comes Down’ – a hilarious B-Movie slasher with feminist motifs and a cast that includes Maniac Cop’s Robert Z’Dar.
Not enough pumpkin carving fun for you? How about a chat with Mitchell Wells aka DrGore, the gore strewn impresario behind Horror Society – one of the most successful terror strewn websites out there?
How about on the spot enactments of your favorite (or not so favorite) horror films?
How about grandly grotesque giveaways (including blood bursting fiction and autographed items from Masters of Horror’ Mick Garris and Seinfeld’s very own Soup Nazi, Larry Thomas)?
How about the awesome Gothic atmosphere that the Vintage Lounge always provides?
And, lastly, how about you – bringing us your stories, poems and songs – spooky or otherwise? After all, the ghost of Boris Karloff compels you!
