I’m trying to get readers more involved with the site and also to start spreading the October…cheer? Cheer seems like such a December/Christmas type of word… Anyway! If you did not know, Horror Society has its own youtube channel, which you can check out by clicking https://www.youtube.com/user/HorrorSociety?blend=7&ob=5. However, we haven’t uploaded any new content to the HS channel since April. So, this will be both a way for you to help us add new material to youtube and a way for you to win a free DVD.
Horror anthologies seem to be very popular right now in the indie horror scene. The one getting the most buzz right now is Slices of Life, but I’m most looking forward to Jonathan Moody’s Scream Queen Campfire. Each film contains a handful of scary stories, all unique from one another. My idea was to create our own anthology series, or movie depending on how many submissions I receive. Depending on the length of the video submissions, some entries may be edited down. There are two different ways you can submit:
Record Yourself – Grab your basic camera, phone, or even webcam and record yourself telling your favorite scary story. It can be as simple as you sitting in a chair and talking or as difficult as you acting out with some friends. Either way, be creative!
Previously Made Film – Do you have a short (2 – 5 minute) horror film that you’ve created? Are you looking for a little extra promotion? Send it in, too! But make sure that you also attach a signed PDF or JPG file granting us permission to use your film. We will not be doing any of this for profit, but still need your consent.
Whichever option that you chose, please make sure to tell me your first name, age, and state that you live. Send all video submissions to Michael@horrorsociety.com . As they come through, I’ll edit them into mini or full episodes and add them to youtube. You can impress all your friends by showing them that something you made is being hosted at an award winning website (yes, we did win an award…or is it two now?)
The deadline for sending in videos is October 24th! So make sure you get them in. Once I’ve gone over them all, the best video submission will get a free copy of my favorite Tales From The Crypt anthology film, Bordello of Blood.
