It has come to my attention recently that the first season of Elvira’s new Movie Macabre has reached its end. I had assumed it would be on hiatus until season two, especially since the original series lasted for four seasons. However, film and television isn’t as much of an art form as it used to be. Now they are just money-making giants for the most part. Alas, I received this comment on one of my previous articles showcasing Elvira’s latest episode where she was hosting Werewolf of Washington. This comment comes from a passionate Elvira fan, but being that the email they provided seems to be fake or full, take it with a grain of salt:
“It’s October 1st 2011 and we just found out that Elvira’s Movie Macabre may not be back for a 2nd Season. All Elvira fans NEED to call, write, and bug the stations that aired the show. Tell them they simply have to sign up for another season, or all Elvira fans will join and stop viewing and supporting their stations. Do it now guys, or we’ll loose Elvira for good!!!”
So, hopping on the social networking giant, Facebook, I visited Elvira’s official page, which you can also visit by clicking here. This is what the hottest horror hostess in history had to say about the shows current status:
“In case some of you missed the last post about this – The first season of Elvira’s Movie Macabre has ended with the final broadcast being last weekend. That’s why you can’t find it on TV anymore. The entire show (20 episodes + 6 NEW unseen episodes) is being released on DVD. A second season is still being considered. Hope that clears things up for everyone!”
While it isn’t set in stone, and not even really worrisome at this point, it does seem that Elvira’s new Movie Macabre may return to our small screens. I mean, really, how many viewers did networks expect it to get when it was broadcast at such a late hour? Either way, if you are as impassioned as the first commenter – you can find a list of stations that showed Movie Macabre by clicking here. Give em a call, shoot em an email, then run back here and let me know what they had to say.
But, I’m certainly hoping for a season two of Movie Macabre!
