According to the folks over at Deadline “The Stand” may have a new director in Ben Affleck. Yes, that Ben Affleck who has directed the “The Town” and “Gone Baby Gone“. For the longest, it appeared that David Yates (of “Harry Potter” fame) was set to direct the film for Warner Bros. However, it appears that a deal was never worked out and now Ben Affleck is the top choice. Given that the initial source doesn’t have any other details, production date or really any other information other than his name being at the top of the list over at Warner Bros., it’s all mere speculation at this point. However, it is an interesting choice for the Warner Bros.
With the Affleck news, rumors are running rampant that given the sheer size of the novel itself that the film could be a trilogy, which any King fan will tell you is the most logical way to go.
Considering how good “The Town” was, I am more than willing to give him a chance and see how it goes. What’s your take on it?
