The guys over at Sideshow Pictures are hard at work on their latest horror flick. You may recognize them from their work on Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, which was one of horror’s most anticipated releases in 2009. Now they are back in the game and trying to secure extra funding through campaign site, Kickstarter.com, for their latest film Night of the Pumpkin. Even though it will be a short film, the creators are going all out! Night of the Pumpkin even has its own theme song already!
The plot is described as, “A demon possessed Jack O’ Lantern comes to life on Halloween and terrorizes a small town in this throwback to 80’s style horror. There will be mayhem, murder, screams, laughs, and buckets upon buckets of blood splatter. It’s over the top, outlandish, and your next guilty pleasure. It will make you think twice the next time you are about to smash a pumpkin.”
As far as people’s involvement with Night of the Pumpkin, I can only tell you people who are confirmed on the Kickstarter page. I’ll start with emerging scream queen Samantha Hahn, who has appeared in Return to Sleepaway Camp, Blood Night, and The Groundhouse; Samantha is part of the main cast. Director Frank Sabatella will be taking the wheels as director once again, followed by John Morena as graphics supervisor, composer Elder Jepson, and creator Jeremy Selenfriend. I’m sure more cast and crew will be released as time goes on.
So, as with all Kickstarter pages, you get some cool prizes for donating your money to Night of the Pumpkin. It looks like the film is mostly completed, and the funds will be going towards finishing it up and post production. Prizes will include digital download of the finished film, thank you and producer credits, Blood Night poster, TIME SENSITIVE extra role, movie props, and signed photo of Samantha Hahn.
What are you waiting for people? Go donate! I just bought myself the $50 package. It says that donations and rewards will be delivered by April 2012. Hopefully that’s when the film will be released!
