Order Up! Elvis McComas dishes on ‘Porkchops’

* For this Porkchops related interview, I chat with Elvis McComas. He describes himself as the “head D-bag” in Porkchops, but assures me he’s the farthest thing from that in real life. However, being described as a D-bag in a horror film is never a good thing, and I already worry about his survival in Porkchops. Elvis has some cool acting credits, though, so I feel that he will deliver a stellar performance alive or dead! Porkchops will see its world premiere this Friday at The Empty Glass in Charleston, West Virginia. A DVD release will follow shortly after. “Follow” Porkchops  on Facebook here for more information. Read my interview with Elvis McComas below!

Q: Tell HorrorSociety readers a little about yourself:

E: Howdy. I’m Elvis McComas, 29 years old, and was born and raised in Huntington, WV. (birthplace of Brad Dourif)

Q: Do you have any acting credits or credentials other than Porkchops?

E: I had a part in Shayne Barker’s The Comic Book Lady, was an extra in the movie We Are Marshall, and was in the band Hydrogyn’s “Candles Light Your Face” music video. I attended the New York Film Academy for acting classes back in 2005-2006.

Q: How did you find out that Porkchops was casting?

E: Hahaha, I can’t recall! I want to say my buddy Massie said he saw it on Facebook, but a lot has happened this year, so I’m going to give him the props. Thanks Massie! (If I’m wrong, I apologize!)

Q: Can you tell me about your character in Porkchops?

E: I play Bobby, the head D-Bag of the group. It’s pretty funny because what you’ll see on screen is a complete 180 of myself. I wanted to kick my own ass at times.

Q: Do you have any funny or interesting stories from your time on set?

E: Hahaha, running the “Behind the Scenes” camera was a hoot. I hope all the antics make it on the DVD!

Q: What do you think is the single most important quality of Porkchops that will reel horror fans in?

E: The originality and brutality, plain and simple. Eamon pushed the death scenes to the max. Ginger and Shayne Workman’s FX work will speak for itself. ;)

Q: After this experience, would you consider doing another horror film? How was the overall experience?

E: Oh, for sure! I do want to expand to different genres in my career, but I’ll never shy away from a horror movie. Hell, I was raised on the horror genre! The experience was amazing. Eamon took good care of the crew. It was a very relaxed shoot. Don’t get me wrong, shit got done, but we worked at a comfortable pace and got it knocked out in record time. Eamon also wasn’t afraid to let us run with some things. There is a few instances where I improvised some stuff and he had no problems with it.

Q: Anything else you would like to share with readers?

E: Be sure to keep an eye out for us at various horror conventions in the next few months. Don’t be shy, come say howdy! Be sure to snag a DVD and a t-shirt! Hit me up on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/3Lv15.

Q: Favorite horror film:
E:
Hardest question of them all! Maaaaan, how about I do a top 5, in no particular order:
* Demons (That’s for you, Drew!)
* Halloween II (80s version. Made hospitals creepier.)
* The House on Haunted Hill (Vincent Price version. He ruled.)
* Pet Cemetery (Zelda STILL scares me to this day.)
* Exorcist III (Cinematography was creepy as hell. Spoke volumes with little to no special effects.)

*If anything, Elvis is the third Porkchops cast member to mention the behind the scenes camera, which makes me hope that some of the footage makes it on the DVD too!

Thank you for your time, Elvis.
