Zombie Babies

Zombie Babies could be one of the biggest “WTF” movie of all time. I mean, just think about it. Where does your mind go, and how do you feel, when you think of a horror film called Zombie Babies? I’m trying to think of other films that are as sickening as this one, but I’m coming up short. So, let me just dive into the plot.

Zombie Babies revolves around three couples who go to an abortion house resort. Go get your unborn baby pulled out of you with a rusty hanger, then hang around for the weekend to enjoy some rest and relaxation. Sounds good in a twisted, sadistic way, right? Wrong! Some mass in the basement of the resort has the ability to reanimate the dead. All the aborted fetuses come back to live with the thirst for human flesh and revenge on their minds. Will any of the couples survive the weekend when trapped inside a resort with Zombie Babies?

Zombie Babies stars horror actors Kaylee Williams (Slices of Life), Ruby LaRocca (Belated By Valentine’s Lover), Sam Qualiana (Snow Shark), Shawn C Phillips (Mary Horror), and Ford Austin (Slaughter Party). They are joined by some of Razor Sharp Studio’s stable of actors including Rob Cobb, Missy Dawn, and Brian Gunnoe. Zombie Babies was the fifth horror film by West Virginian director Eamon Hardiman.

Ok, so, where do I begin with Zombie Babies? I think the most important aspect is that it kind of falls into horror-comedy territory. Some of the things the characters do, some of the crappy special effects, and some of the things the characters say make the film unintentionally hilarious. At one point, one of the couples are having sex and the guy (played by Shawn C Phillips) is trying to talk dirty to the girl (played by Ruby LaRocca). They’re in bed and he saying something along the lines of, “This is what champions are made of. Take my rock hard four inches!” I also think it was funny how accepting the main cast are that their unborn children have returned from the dead. They’re just like, “oh, ok.”

As far as gore goes, there isn’t a lot to go on. There is a pretty cool decapitation by a fetus with its own umbilical cord, but aside from that there isn’t anything bloody worth mentioning. Although, there is a fantastically disgusting death involving one of the zombie babies crapping down someones throat so violently that the person beneath it chokes to death and dies. As far as sex goes, the film has two (maybe three) sex scenes and that should be enough to keep people who mix death and sex pretty happy. Literally.

After I finished watching Zombie Babies I sat and thought about whether or not Eamon Hardiman has an agenda with the film. Ya know, how Teeth was a feminist film that was trying to take a stance against overly sexed men. But, at the end of the day, I think Eamon created Zombie Babies for the sole purpose of offending you. I think he wants to gross you out or make you feel angry. Watching Zombie Babies was like watching a car crash, no matter how disturbing it was I couldn’t look away. At least it made me feel some sort of emotion?

Zombie Babies is a low-budget horror film, so you get everything that those labels imply. However, I guarantee you that it will capture your attention and have you saying, “WTF?” throughout the whole viewing.
