Exclusive: 3 minutes of Plan 9 debuted this weekend!

**NOTE: Event is now over!

…are you jealous that you didn’t get to see it? Well, you should be! I was actually the first person not associated with the film to give it a view because director John Johnson was nice enough to let me sneak a peek since I had to miss the debut of the three-minute preview! I’ve seen Johnson’s work before since I own his Skeleton Key’s and recently viewed his short Capture and Kill and bought his film Deceptors. After watching the three-minute preview, I think my comment to Johnny was respectfully: “Not to knock any of your previous work, but this looks amazing – many steps forwards and it shows that you’ve improved a lot!” It’s true, I haven’t seen any of John’s work since 2008’s Skeleton Key 2 and indeed it does look like he has mastered his craft that wasn’t really untamed to begin with. I invested in Plan 9 during its infantile stage, and I’m proud of my investment.

Now incase you’re wondering, Plan 9 is a remake of 1959’s Plan 9 From Outer Space. In the original film, “Aliens resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop human kind from creating the Solaranite (a sort of sun-driven bomb).” While speaking with John at Blood On The Beach, he did confirm that Plan 9 will follow the plot of the original, but will contain some new, modern, and original ideas. I wonder if he will take out the sun bomb or leave it in? Plan 9 which is written and directed by John Johnson will star Brian Krause (Sleep Walkers), Monique Dupree (Bikini Bloodbath Christmas), Angela Pritchett (Porkchops), Mister Lobo (“Cinema Insomnia”), James D. Rolfe (“Cinemassacre’s Monster Madness”), Conrad Brooks (Plan 9 From Outer Space), Addy Miller (“The Walking Dead”), and many others.

In the clip that I watched, several survivors including Krause’s character “Jeff” are held up inside after surviving an attack by the reanimated creatures. Several survivors appear to be injured as they band together to form a plan of survival, discuss the situation at hand, and hypothesize the possibilities and urban legends surrounding a zombie attack. I could be more specific in terms of location, injuries, dialogue, and action, but I don’t want to spoil the moment for those who missed the three-minute sneak peek at Blood On The Beach. I’m sure it will make its way online eventually, but I will say – it looks amazing! Definitely made me psyched and I will be highly anticipating the premier of the rest of Plan 9!

Another fun fact to note from John Johnson himself is that the stage is filled with many horror genre actors, but the most (maybe iconic) cast set up is the relationship between Conrad Brooks and Addy Miller. Conrad Brooks has been a B-movie staple since the he was in the original Plan 9 From Outer Space; he’s been acting for over 70 years. Addy Miller has grown into popularity since appearing as an iconic character herself, the little girl zombie in the first episode of “The Walking Dead.” Addy has been booking horror rolls consistently since her appearance on the hit AMC show. It is literally like old school meets new old school, the greatest generation of horror opening the door for the latest generation of horror, passing the torch if you will. Hell, even through in Brian Krause who appeared in Sleep Walkers and Monique Dupree who has been doing horror over 7 years. I guess I’m trying to say that Plan 9 crosses all generations of horror fans and horror actors and the talent pool is so diverse!

I can’t wait for Plan 9‘s full release in the future!
