Shadows of the Past

Many believe that on December 21, 2012, as the Mayan calendar ends, an event will occur that will change our future forever. It is possible that day will signal not the end, but the beginning of the end, for all mankind.

Cumberland, MD – May 2012 – In author Richard Schiver’s latest release, SHADOWS OF THE PAST, as the last days of the Mayan calendar count down the battle between good and evil is joined. Washington D.C Homicide Detective Sam Hardin and Vietnam Vet Jack Griffith go head to head in a fight to the death from which only one can emerge victorious. While in the balance hangs the future of all mankind. An ancient ceremonial dagger has a disturbing effect on all who come into contact with it. Contained within the blade is the essence of a primeval god that seeks to return to its former glory. Stolen from a research facility to pay a gambling debt the knife falls into the wrong hands with devastating results.

Inspired by H.P Lovecraft’s, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS that many believe was written as a continuation of Edgar Allan Poe’s THE NARRATIVE OF ARTHUR GORDON PYM. Lovecraft’s work inspired John W Campbell to write the short story, WHO GOES THERE, which served as the basis for the nineteen fifties movie, THE THING that John Carpenter remade in the eighties. In each instance the discovered artifacts never reach civilization, until now.
