Karen Lam’s feature film “Evangeline” selected for NAFF-IT

Following Cannes, Karen Lam’s next feature film “Evangeline” has been chosen for Asia’s largest genre film festival and market

Karen Lam (“The Stolen” and “Doll Parts”) is one of only 20 filmmakers worldwide invited to take part in the 2012 Network of Asian Fantastic Films (“NAFF”). From July 22-25 in Bucheon City, South Korea, the hand-selected filmmakers will meet with investors and distributors from across Asia in order to finance their feature films.

After a successful week attending the Cannes Short Film Corner with her short film “The Stolen”, Karen is working to finance her second feature film “Evangeline.” The film is a supernatural revenge fantasy, about a young woman who is murdered and returns from the dead to seek vengeance on her killers. “With female revenge films, the main character is usually only spurred to action in order to protect the lives of her loved ones,” Karen explained. “But in this case, she is avenging her own life, which I think is long overdue. Why can’t we fight for ourselves for a change?”

Inspired by her 2011 short film Doll Parts, has screened in over 38 film festivals since June 2011 and will be seen next at San Diego’s Comic Con Independent Film Festival.
