Elvira to retire? LAST appearance at HorrorHound Weekend in September?

Could it be the end of an era? Sure, it’s an era that has lasted 31 years, but that doesn’t mean Cassandra Peterson’s legion of fans are ready to let her beloved character go. Rumor has it, Cassandra Peterson will make her last appearance in costume as Elvira, Mistress of The Dark this September at HorrorHound Weekend.

Jamie Lee Curtis will make her first (and only) appearance at a horror convention at HorrorHound Weekend in November. The press has been a buzz with news that the horror legend, famous for playing Laurie Strode in the original Halloween franchise, would make her first (and only) convention hall meet and greet. With the majority of the media articles focusing on Jamie Lee Curtis’ appearance at HorrorHound Weekend in November, readers have failed to realize that the website is also advertising the September  HorrorHound Weekend event as Elvira’s last appearance in costume.

Elvira’s Movie Macabre debuted on television in 1981 and rocketed the character of Elvira to cult status pretty much overnight. I can understand Cassandra’s desire to hang up her wig (I say wig because it’s not possible for women to hang up their boobs…is it?), but I don’t think fans are ready to let her go just yet. It was just last year that Elvira returned to television with her latest horror hosting show!

HorrorHound Weekend will take place September 7th to the 9th in Indianapolis. Other guests include Linda Hamilton (“Sarah Connor” in Terminator), Lance Henriksen (Alien, Pumpkinhead), and many more. Click here for more details: https://www.horrorhoundweekend.com/.

  1. Just to clarify, Jamie Lee Curtis is making her appearance at the NOVEMBER HorrorHound this year; Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) is appearing at the SEPTEMBER HorrorHound — both of which are in Indianapolis this year.
