Described as Not Another Teen Movie meets Night of The Demons? Two of my most favorite movies! And the fact that hipsters are the target of a murderous demon… Well, as Grumpy Cat would say, “GOOD.” Read the latest press release from Greg Probst where he dishes on all the Die, Hipster! Die! details!
Slasher/Comedy Feature Film is In-Production, Hipsters are in Danger
Bensalem, PA – 17 August 2013 – While many college students are taking a break this summer, one 23-year-old filmmaker is making his first feature-length movie. Greg Probst, a journalism student at Bucks County Community College, began production on an original feature film in the greater Philadelphia area using all local talent. Completing a feature film is a daunting task for professionals with decades of industry experience. But Probst, with a resume listing experience in everything from movie theatre management to wardrobe supervising, tackles his project as writer, director, and producer with plans to wrap production in October.
Die, Hipster! Die! is the story of a couple of hipsters who enrage a gypsy fortune teller, causing her to summon a demon to wipe out their house party; leaving Luke and Brea, the only non-hipsters in attendance, to fight for their right to live.
The film stars area talent Patrick Hickman, Nikiya Palombi, Heather Cole, Sean Close, and Dave Megliorino as the villainous James Mean.
Die, Hipster! Die! capitalizes on the universal dislike for the hipster subculture by poking fun at stereotypes and ultimately allowing the audience to cheer for their on-screen demise.
“I had the idea to poke fun at killing a subculture the way Return of the Living Dead did with slaughtering punks,” said Probst. “The film should be fun to watch. It’s packed with a lot of laughs while still having key genre elements to please any horror fan. I’d say it’s like Night of the Demons meets Not Another Teen Movie.”
The production is 5 days into its 15 day shooting schedule, filming mostly on weekends with volunteer labor.
“The support and sense of community has been humbling,” said Probst. “Filmmaking is so collaborative. It’s amazing to see so many talented people pitching in because they believe in what we’re doing. The film is bound for glory, carried on the backs of a lot of talented artists.”
A crowd funding page is in the works and will go live during production.
