Danny Hicks (Evil Dead 2, Darkman) and Debbie Rochon (Model Hunger, Exhumed) have joined the cast of Dick Johnson and Tommygun vs. The Cannibal Cop, the latest genre film shooting in Buffalo, New York. This ode to 80s buddy cop movies and horror films is the brainchild of John Renna, who has appeared in such films as Slime City Massacre, Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast and the upcoming Dry Bones. Renna, who is a special make-up effects artist as well as an actor, wrote the screenplay, which he is co-producing and co-directing with Chris Rados (winner of Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival’s Best Western New York Director award for his short film His Name is Clownface).
Dick Johnson and Tommygun vs. The Cannibal Cop stars Sam Qualiana (Snow Shark, The Legend of Six Fingers) as Dick Johnson and Renna as Jeff “Tommygun” Thompson, two mismatched police detectives hunting a cannibalistic fellow policeman. Hicks, who is also an associate producer on the film, plays the detectives’ hands on captain; Rochon plays an associate who may hold the secret to the cannibal cop. Other roles are being cast now.
“Action, horror and comedy are my three favorite genres,” says Renna. “For the last several years I’ve been acting in films and doing special make-up effects for films and at haunt attractions. When I act for others, I create my characters from the ground up, and I wanted to build an entire film that way. I’m a big fan of Danny’s, I love working with Debbie, and Sam and I have proven we have chemistry. Chris Rados is one of the most talented filmmakers in town, and I trust him to control the camera and direction while I’m acting. This film is going to be a crazy blast!”
Dick Johnson & Tommygun vs. The Cannibal Cop is a joint production between Renna’s JFR Productions and Rados’s 2thirteen Productions, in association with WNY Grip & Lighting and Beyond Ghosts, LLC. Filming is expected to last through the summer.
