“SCOPIA” set to have World Premiere in September

SCOPIA POSTER 1

After 3 and a half years in production writer/director, Christopher Butler’s sci-fi, horror mind bender “SCOPIA” will start its festival run in North America.

Just as the plot has been a tightly guarded secret so too will the name of the launch film festival, which will be announced in mid-August. This comes hot on the heels of producers signing with London based Manifest Film Sales (part of heavy-weight Intandem Media Group) to represent the film to buyers worldwide.

“SCOPIA” which recently enjoyed its first trade appearance at the London Screenings showcase for the international distribution community has already had leaked reviews defining the film as “a style reminiscent of Kubrick, Lynch or Herzog, the movie has no clear boundaries of reality, and the complexity of the protagonist Basia keeps the audience hooked”.  The question of what happens when reincarnation goes wrong is asked, and only partially answered through spine chilling performances and stunning cinematography.

It is expected that a number of territory deals will close in the coming weeks as strong word of mouth and expectations rise prior to the festival premiere of the film.

“SCOPIA” is produced by UK based production companies, Big Eye Ltd and Flynn Entertainment.

Synopsis
Set in London, “SCOPIA” follows ordinary white–collar office worker, Basia, who after struggling with anxiety undergoes a series of unorthodox hypnotic regressions with her therapist.  Flash-backs to her childhood offer an initial sense of relief but quickly give way to horrific and chilling images of past lives.  Unbeknownst to her she has awoken a dark part of the brain and unleashed terrifying sinister forces that threaten to destroy her.
