They’re back!
Horror Society Awards 2015
More blood. More categories. More time to vote.

Hey, folks. It is my pleasure to announce that the annual Horror Society Awards is back with our third year of awards highlighting the best in all categories of horror cinema, whether it be box office smash hits or no-budget features. Every year we try something new, and we try to get better and better. So as you will see, there are a few new categories this year as well as returning favorites. This should be an interesting process, to say the least!

While the categories have gone through reconstruction, the guidelines have remained the same.

  1. Any film or product must have premiered, screened, or been released between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014. I will be checking this. I will be checking as the ballots start coming in. If you or your product appears ineligible I will let you know via email as soon as possible to help you better submit future ballots.
  2. Any film must have received a limited release of some sort. A film must have screened more than twice (whether in festivals, theaters, or self screenings) or be available for purchase/streaming online. I’m not going to let a film that premiered in one local theater win Best Feature when only twenty people have ever seen it. I know that seems harsh, but I want these awards to have some sort of integrity for winners.
  3. Ballots are to be submitted once a day. Any ballots over the one per day limit will be deleted. This is to ensure a fair competition with equal grounds for voting as well as being easier for me to count and tally.
  4. Finally, I withhold the right to disqualify anyone or any nominee that I think is cheating, spamming, or slandering the competition in any way.

Here’s a breakdown of this year’s categories:

1. Best Horror Film – Any film of horror origins that received a wide release in theaters with a budget of $1,000,000 or greater.
2. Best Indie Horror Film – Any film of horror origins that received any release with a budget of $1,000,000 or less.
3. Best Scifi Film – Any film of any budget or distribution that deals with science-fiction elements.
4. Best Short Film – Any film of any budget or distribution that’s under 45 minutes long.
5. Best Web-Series – Any horror, science-fiction, or thrilling series produced specifically for the internet.
6. Best Television Show – Any horror, science-fiction, or thrilling series produced specifically for national broadcast.
7. Best Comic/Book – Any horror, science-fiction, or thrilling piece of literature.
8. Choice Actor – aka: Favorite Male Actor in horror, science-fiction, or thrillers.
9. Choice Actress – aka: Favorite Female Actor in horror, science-fiction, or thrillers.
10. Favorite Villain – Must be from a 2014 title!
11. Favorite Death Scene – Must be from a 2014 title!
12. Most Anticipated Title of 2015 – The film you are most excited for in 2015 that is horror or science-fiction related.
13. Best New Comer – Any actor, effects artist, editor, writer, director, etc that worked on their first project in 2014, and one who you think has the brightest future ahead of them.

Then YOU will select the winners. Choose wisely!
Jan. 30th to Feb. 23rd

After last year’s voting rounds – public vote, HS staff choice, and twitter vote – I have restricted the voting process to a public vote only. The nominees will be compiled onto a polling system on our server so picking the winners will be easier for all involved. Voting will begin on Jan 30th, 2015 and will conclude on Feb. 23rd, 2015 at 12:00am. The winners will be announced a few days after.
