Is anyone really surprised that XX was picked up for distribution right away? I’m not. Even though this title was still filming at the start of the new year, Magnet Releasing has already secured a worldwide distribution deal for XX and we should be seeing this exciting title very soon.
Incase you didn’t know, XX is an upcoming horror anthology from some of the best female directors in the business. While XX kind of sounds mysterious and paints like slash marks, it’s more-so probably just a pun on the sex-determining chromosome that all female bodies possess. XX will be, “four deadly tales by four killer women.”
The four directors who will comprise segments for this anthology include Mary Harron (American Psycho, episodes of “Constantine” and “The Following”), Karyn Kusama (aEon Flux, Jennifer’s Body), Jennifer Lynch (Chained, “Teen Wolf”), and Jovanka Vuckovic (shorts: The Captured Bird and The Guest).
There has been no official announcement on casting yet that I can find, but XX is described as, “a new horror anthology with a gender twist – all segments will be helmed by female directors and will star female leads. The directors have been given free creative rein within budget and time constraints, but all of the segments themselves will involve the horror genre.”
Filming is expected to conclude on this title in early 2015.
