HALLOWEEN to be “recalibrated;” SAW writers to pen script.

psycho-si-creep-michael-myers-mask-01The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively confirming that the next entry in the Halloween franchise will be a “recalibration.” But let’s call it for what it is. This is clearly going to be another remake. I’m going to go on the record now and say if it’s not Halloween 9, an original non-remake/rebook, then I don’t want it!

THR is confirming that the “recalibration” – again, not a remake or reboot, but a “recalibration” – will be penned by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Previously the duo have written scripts for popular films like The Collector, The Collection, Feast, Feast II, Feast III, Saw IV, Saw VI, Saw 3D, and Piranha 3DD. Bloody-Disgusting is also reporting that they have aborted the 3D idea and are going in a different direction.

Malek Akkad, the son of the late Moustapha Akkad, is currently attached to produce the feature alongside Matt Stein. Malek took over his father’s mantel and produced Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Rob Zombie’s H2 after his father’s death in 2005. Speaking of Zombie, he is not attached to direct “Halloween 3” as of this posting.

  1. Malek Akkad really needs to make this sequel a really good one,for he needs to get the likes of a Jeff Burr,Anthony Hickox,Kevin Tenney,or even Alexandre Aja behind the director’s seat for this one, since the HALLOWEEN series can’t afford another terrible film(which has been moving onward since Part 5).
