Back in November 2014 I was fortunate enough to watch and review a short film titled Downstairs. Written, directed and starring the Boxleitner brothers Lee and Sam, Downstairs turned out to be one of my most positively reviewed short films of 2014 and I guaranteed my horror readers that this was one to watch out for, especially since it’s currently in the film festival circuit and has screened at IndieFest USA International Film Festival, Northwest Horror Film Festival and Screamfest Horror Film Festival. And now, the votes are in and Downstairs was just awarded the “Best Short Film” award at Dark Scream UK Film Festival where it was also nominated in two categories.
In celebration of their special award victory, Lee and Sam Boxleitner have premiered Downstairs on Vimeo so everyone can have a chance to see the short film they worked so hard to create, one that is realistically written, funny and has all the right touches of horror. It follows a hapless but lovable security guard in a snooty art gallery who is tormented by evil spirits. Other cast members appearing alongside Lee and Sam include John Lyke, Phoebe Neidhardt, Caitlin Reilly and and Andrea Steele.
