JD DEBRIS PREMIERES NEW TRACK “MANIAC COP” WITH HORROR SOCIETY
“Maniac Cop,” the new single from Boston-based singer-songwriter JD Debris, premieres today on Horrorsociety.com. JD Debris describes his sound as “Psycho Pop,” a frantic, violent take on underground Pop/R&B–as if a young Elvis Costello took a switchblade to a Jai Paul tune.
Debris sings “Maniac Cop,” with its lyrical nods to the horror film of the same name, in a disarmingly sweet voice. Pay attention to the lyrics though, and you’ll here where the “Psycho” part comes from–it starts with murder and only gets crazier from there. The track, produced by full-time collaborator BODEK, is a brisk not-quite-3 minutes of John Carpenter-esque synth bass, slashing clean guitars, and hooks upon hooks.
JD Debris plans on releasing a series of horror-themed singles throughout 2015.
