
TromaDance Film Festival, which is in its 17th year, will give birth to an additional free independent film festival. The first ever TROMAnimation Film Festival, organized by Gary Trimarchi, animation consultant and animation curator of the exhibition, set to take place at the NYC landmark Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn, NY on April 30, 2016, it was announced today by Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of “The Toxic Avenger.”
TROMAnimation, like TromaDance, does not require a fee to submit and the event will be admission free for attendees. Selections will be made based on open-genre submissions and promises to feature over five hours of animations from 6 PM-11 PM on Saturday, April 30th. Important to note is that any animation that has been or will be submitted to the TromaDance film festival will also be considered in selections for the TROMAnimation Film Festival. Troma has announced that several legendary animators will be in attendance, including an”Emmy Award winning mystery animator”, slated to give an introduction to open the night.
Featured guests like Maxwell Atoms will premiere his lost student film which served as the basis for his series The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, along with John Dilworth, creator of Courage of the Cowardly Dog, will be screening their films and also will be hosting a Q&A panel. Other notable animators include Jonathan “Ukino Joe” Gran, a popular web animator whose offbeat shorts have garnered over 50 million views.
