Creator James D. Schumacher III is set to unleash the horror of his brand new horror comic series, Of Devils and Men onto world via kickstarter this 9.30.2016. Working with artist and letterer, Ken Knudtsen (Marvel’s Wolverine, Slave Labor Graphics’ My Monkey’s Name is Jennifer) Schumacher has crafted an ultra violent western combing the unique blend of visceral horror and the very real pain of overcoming tremendous loss.
1880’s Arizona Territory. The hills caught fire, the animals perished, the great cataclysm wrought death upon the world. Fire engulfs the world. Emerging from this inferno rose horrific creatures, Wretches, eacg hell-bent on killing every living man, woman and child. Survivors of the town of Premonition took to the Charleston 689, a massive steam locomotive to outrun the fires and the creatures.
This begins the trials for these refugees on the Charleston as they steam for the fabled city, Crescent. A place where other survivors say this hell has not touched, a place where they can live without fear. As each day wears thin, patience gives way to anger and the pain of losing loved ones overcomes people and violence soon breaks out. Soon it’s not the ravenous creatures outside they need to worry about, it’s the person sitting next to them.
The Charleston is the last hope for these people, and it’s running low on fuel miles away from anything resembling safety and with millions of creatures on its heels.
Will the survivors defy their differences and overcome loss, or will the very thing that unites us all be the downfall of humanity?
