Hello. My name is Don Hines and I am the owner of Deadly Playthings. Deadly Playthings started in November of 2009. It was started as a way to deliver horror collectibles at a reasonable price to you. As a child, I became interested in a weekly series on T.V. called “Creature Feature” It showed alot of great movies like Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra and more. That is where my love of Creature Sci-Fi started. And then the inevitable happened: HORROR!!
I was introduced to scary movies and boy did I LOVE them and still do! While living in the Detroit area while my wife attended college, McFarlane Toys started to release a series of figures called “Movie Maniacs”. The series launched with Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, Eve & Patrick. Upon seeing these, I knew that I had to have them. Then NECA followed with Cult Classics. Another awesome line of horror figures featuring Jason, The Crow, Mohawk & Patrick Bateman. After a short spell of 6 years in Detroit, my wife and I decided to move back to the Muskegon area. Upon my return, I noticed that all the spots that I used to go to, had all closed down. So I decided to look into opening my own store. And from that spawned Deadly Playthings…..
