Return of the Living Dead

ROTLDvideoJust when you thought it was safe to go back to the cemetery, those brain-eating zombies are coming back for a second helping! MGM Home Entertainment is producing a new special edition of cult classic Return of the Living Dead. According to Michael Allred, who spear-headed the original web campaign to bring the horror comedy to DVD back in 2002, the new disc is currently in production with a release date to be announced.

Full details on the bonus materials aren’t yet known, but actors Beverly Randolph , Brian Peck and Linnea Quigley, along with production designer William Stout, have been confirmed for a commentary track recording session later this month.

But it also appears that this new edition will be absent of any new participation from writer/director Dan O’Bannon, who is currently in litigation with the studio over residual payments from the 1985 horror comedy. Stay tuned for more developments as they happen. Thanks to Michael Allred for the news!
